Parent and Child Dedication

Have you recently become a parent? A repeat parent? If you have, you may be awed at the special gift God has given you in your child. Or have you recently put your faith in Christ Jesus and see your role as a parent in a new and exciting light? It is at times like this that many parents wish to take part in the Parent and Child Dedication service.

Four times a year we give parents the opportunity to stand before family and friends and make a promise and an admission. They promise to raise their child in a Christian atmosphere where, as a parent or parents, their child is exposed to God: His teachings, His Character and His Ways, including His plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. Also, they acknowledge that their child is gift from God to be given back to Him!

The Dedication service follows two orientation classes which encourage parents to reflect on the “first and most fundamental responsibility of a parent”. At this orientation, parents consider the spiritual and practical sides of Christian parenting and are given clear direction as to the procedures of the service.

An information package can be obtained from the church and the “information sheet” needs to be returned to the church a week before the first orientation class.
